Not Corporate Enough

I have such a packed situation revolving around me. My brother’s passing his time in an isolated café (in my humble opinion) for $6 an hour, my parents shopping for a new shoe rack and possibly a new computer desk as well (god knows how many computer tables we need). My cousin and her new found spouse busy with outstanding settlements (car, condo…), baby mouse in national service (oooh nice uniform ;p), and my flying club alumni khakis with their get-together preparations and, my university school mates also, busy organizing their little un-numbered $10 per head chalet.

I don’t have to report about myself. Besides, I do have something to be busy with, a job I have. Yes.

Started at 8am yesterday morning.

Ends at 1pm yesterday afternoon.

That’s it.

Don’t you start judging me. I had a job (although I only did it in order to cover for a friend for half a day). Still, a job is a job. I can still go around telling people I ain’t loaded and I really did do something in the holidays to earn that little extra income to support my family.

Even though it could mean buying a pair of jeans for myself (:p).

And I got this cool Pizza Hut voucher from my friend as a treat for covering her duties (thanks Angel :D!).

Anyway so yes I am free now. And I love being free. Hordes of people with deadpanned faces at Tanjong Pagar are annoying me. I even saw my cousin there (not the married one)! And she looked just as blank as them. Poor child bound to her polytechnic attachment till February. And till then guess what? Nothing changes (at least not for this particularly unexciting train station).

Tell me, what’s so great about corporate environment besides pathetic wages and depressing salary figures and perhaps a chocked up toilet bowl?

Don’t even ask.
